What customers say?

“ Its a joy to get a good coffee here! Their coffee is made to a precise measure of ground coffee, and the consistent process give's customers a very good coffee each time. Attention to the frothing of milk, make such a big difference for a good latte! The oat bowl is one of the best in Melbourne. Its not overloaded with oats, it has a good balance of fruit milk, oats, and a little crunch to make it interesting, topped off with some maple syrup for sweetness. It was yum! All this came with friendly, helpful service. The ambience is pleasant, interesting shape cutlery, tactile crockery, and items throughout the cafe, makes it an enjoyable cafe to visit. ”

“ Beautiful and cosy cafe. Inside is clean, well maintained and bright. Staff are knowledgeable and unafraid to recommend the best serving methods for their specially. Coffee is high quality and flavoursome. The specially coffees are not cheap, but fairly priced for the styles and flavours. ”

“ Really nice specialty coffee. TRY THE MAPO TOFU JAFFLE - highly recommend!! We went on a Sunday morning and it does get busy sometimes but the atmosphere was very nice and cosy. The iced hojicha latte I also had was unfortunately not very good though, texture was a bit chalky and tasted like dirt. Definitely stick to the coffee which is super good ”

“ Perfectly executed magik. Nicely cooked steak frites. Brilliant sandos. Can't deny 4 KG fish does coffee well and have become a local favorite on glenferrie road with its tightly kept menu and elevated coffee beans selection. Service and ordering system works well. Outside seating is available and comfortable. ”

“ The coffee beans and the waitress are from my wife’s hometown. The coffee is awesome which has the same flavour from China. Lemongrass chicken is also as good as what we tried in Kunming. Love the coffee! ”

“ What a lovely place to dine at! Innovative drinks and dishes. The prawn sando was so DELICIOUS, and the combination of apple matcha was unexpected however very pleasant (hence innovative). Ordered a takeaway iced latte and the coffee was also great. Will 100% return for more food ”

“ 4 Kilo Fish is a cosy little café I visit almost every weekend. It’s a hidden gem in the neighbourhood that specialises in Yunnan-style coffee and creative fusion brunch. The coffee is incredible — especially their Yunnan beans. If you’re a filter coffee lover, do yourself a favour and try the Yi-Wu hand brew. It’s smooth, sweet, clean, and full of character. I liked it so much I bought a bag to take home. Food-wise, the menu is simple but super high quality. My go-to dishes are the pork katsu sando, the buffalo chicken or mapo tofu jaffle, and the Yunnan-style minced pork rice — comforting, flavourful, and never too heavy. The space is small but warm and welcoming. Seating is limited, but turnover is quick, so I’ve never had to wait long. It’s the kind of place you’ll keep coming back to — for both the coffee and the vibes. Highly recommend! ”
